Segment coupler for large systems The LCN-SK connects the segments to each other (up to 250 modules per segment). Up to 120 segments can be built. At least 2 are required. Two processors prevent the loss of data telegrams. The segment coupler operates at a transmission speed of up to 2.5 Mbit/sec. The segment couplers are connected via a twisted pair (CAT 5 cable). The length of this two-wire line may be up to 800m in total. Depending on the length of the data wire and the number of connected segment couplers, repeaters may be required. If the full transmission capacity of the segment bus is not required, its transmission speed can be reduced to 1/4 or 1/8. The range then extends up to 3 km without repeaters.
